TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- AEME - AMEX (Middle East) B.S.C. (c), its successors, assigns subsidiaries, branches, and sister or parent companies.
- Card or Basic Card - the Card issued by AEME to the Cardmember, to operate the Account, and includes Basic, Supplementary, and Replacement Cards.
- Cardmember or Basic Cardmember - The person in whose name a Card is issued to charge Transactions including Cash Withdrawals to the Account the debtor on the Account.
- Supplementary Card - The Supplementary Card is the Card issued to a Supplementary Cardmember.
- Supplementary Cardmember - Any person other than the Basic Cardmember who is issued a Supplementary Card at the request of the Basic Cardmember.
- Charges - All amounts debited to an Account arising from the issue or use of the Card(s) or otherwise under these.
- Programme means the American Express Membership Rewards® Programme.
- Programme Account means the Membership Rewards® Programme Account opened for a Cardmember.
- Points means Membership Rewards® Points.
- Linked Accounts means all eligible Card Accounts held by a Basic Cardmember which are enrolled in the Programme and linked for the purpose of accruing Points. AEME will designate one of the Linked Accounts as the Primary Account.
- Rewards means services or merchandise offered by a merchant partner of the Membership Rewards programme.
- Certificates are the vouchers which allow Cardmember to redeem for various rewards.
- Government Services are all government establishments including but not limited to VISA, National ID & Passport services; Traffic Department; Municipality Services (Water, electricity, etc.); Taxation; and transportation (tolls, etc).
The Membership Rewards® programme (Programme) is available to Basic Personal Card (Green), Gold Card, Gold Credit Card, Platinum Card, Platinum Credit Card, Personal Companion Credit Card, Gold Companion Credit Card, Platinum Companion Credit Card, BMW Card, Company and Corporate Cardmembers and other Cards that AMEX (Middle East) B.S.C. (c) (AEME) may issue from time to time. Basic Corporate Cardmembers (i.e. those with account numbers beginning with 37449) may also enrol in the Programme unless their company has chosen not to participate in Membership Rewards®.
Supplementary Cards will automatically be included with the Basic Card on enrolment. Supplementary Cards cannot be enrolled separately from the Basic Card.
A Basic Cardmember may link any number of American Express Basic Card Accounts of the same currency, including Basic Personal Green, Gold, and Platinum Card Accounts and eligible Corporate Card Accounts for the purpose of accruing Points, provided that the Basic Cardmember is listed as the Basic Cardmember for all such Linked Accounts. American Express will designate one of the Linked Accounts as the Primary Account.
All Linked Accounts must be in good standing at the time of enrolment and for the purposes of redemption of Points. All Linked Accounts must be in good standing (i.e. not overdue or in collection) at the time of enrolment. Any Card Account which is not in good standing at the time of enrolment will not be eligible for enrolment in the programme.
Participating in the Programme
A Cardmember can enrol into the Membership Rewards® Programme at the time of applying for the Card or any day thereafter as long as the Card Account is in good standing at the time of enrolment.
An Annual Membership Rewards® fee of US$ 25 will apply for Personal, Gold Charge Cardmembers and for Company Cardmembers. The American Express Gold Credit Card annual Membership Rewards® fee will be US$25 or equivalent to BD 10, QR 100, JD 18, AED 95 and OR 10. The Gold Credit Card, the Personal , Gold Charge Cardmembers and Company Cardmembers can use their Membership Rewards® points to settle their Annual Membership Rewards Fee. The US$ 25 Fee or equivalent fee is equal to 5,000 Membership Rewards® points.
An Annual Membership Rewards® fee of US$ 50 will apply for Corporate Cardmembers. Corporate Cardmembers can use their Membership Rewards® points to settle their Annual Membership Rewards® Fee. The US$ 50 fee is equal to 10,000 Membership Rewards® points.
For Personal and Gold Cardmembers who have opted in to Membership Rewards® between 1st April - 31st May 2007, the Annual Membership Rewards® Fee will be charged to their Card Account as of 1st June 2007 and their Membership Rewards® anniversary date set to 1st day of June each year thereafter.
For Personal and Gold Cardmembers joining Membership Rewards® Programme will be charged the Annual Membership Rewards® Fee on their enrolment date and automatically on that same date each year thereafter, unless the Cardmembers choose to discontinue their enrolment in the Membership Rewards® Programme.
For Gold Credit Cardmembers joining the Membership Rewards® Programme will be charged the Annual Membership Rewards® Fee on their enrolment date and automatically on the same date each year thereafter, unless the Cardmembers choose to discontinue their enrolment in the Membership Rewards® Programme.
Platinum Cardmembers are automatically enrolled into the Membership Rewards® Programme upon approval of the Card and no Membership Rewards® Fee applies. Points earned by Supplementary Cards will accrue automatically to the Basic Card Account upon which the Supplementary Cards are issued. Supplementary Cards cannot earn points separately under an independent Membership Rewards® Programme Account.
Platinum Credit Cardmembers are automatically enrolled into the Membership Rewards® Programme upon approval of the Card and no Membership Rewards® Fee applies. Points earned by Supplementary Cards will accrue automatically to the Basic Card Account upon which the Supplementary Cards are issued. Supplementary Cards cannot earn points separately under an independent Membership Rewards® Programme Account.
Accrual of Membership Rewards® points
Each Cardmember holding American Express Cards issued in the Middle East starting with 3744 enrolled in the programme will accrue one point in his/her Programme Account for every eligible US Dollar charged and billed on the Cardmember's Linked Accounts.
Each Cardmember holding the American Express Platinum Credit Card issued in the Middle East starting with 3778 will earn the following:

Each Cardmember holding the American Express Gold Credit Card issued in the Middle East starting with 3791 will earn the following:

|1 Omani Riyal = 2|
|1 US Dollar = 1|
Points accrued in a Cardmember's Programme Account for any given year will be carried forward on the enrolment anniversary date provided all other conditions set out herein have been met.
Eligible charges do not include the following:
- Cash Advance Services, Service Charges, Fees and Adjustments.>
- Express Cash and ATM withdrawal Service Charges.
- American Express Travellers Cheques, Late Payment Fees and Referral Charges Foreign Exchange.
- Annual Fees.
- Debit and Credit Adjustments.
- Fees on Returned Payments and Cash Withdrawals.
Points accrued in any Programme Account do not constitute property of the Cardmember and are not transferable by operation of law or otherwise to any person or entity and cannot be transferred to any other Membership Rewards® programme Account.
Credits posted to a Cardmember's Linked Account (other than Cardmember payments received), including those arising from returned goods or services, will reduce the points accrued in the Cardmember's Programme Account. Points accrued in the Programme Account have no cash or monetary value.
* Effective May 15th, 2018, Card purchases made under category Government Services will earn 10% of the base Membership Rewards points.
Government Services are all government establishments including but not limited to VISA, National ID & Passport services; Traffic Department; Municipality Services (Water, electricity, etc.); Taxation; and transportation (tolls, etc).
Earning bonus Membership Rewards® points with Programme partners
Cardmembers will be eligible to earn bonus Membership Rewards® points when making a booking with National Car Rental. Cardmembers booking with National Car Rental will earn 10 times the standard Membership Rewards® points. Converting or redeeming points
Points accrued in the Cardmember's Programme Account may be converted by the Basic Cardmember only in his/her frequent flyer or frequent guest programmes of participating hotels or airlines or redeemed for hotel room night vouchers or other rewards. The Cardmember must first join or be a member of the relevant frequent flyer or frequent guest programmes prior to requesting conversion. Enrolment in such programme(s) is the Cardmember's responsibility.
A Cardmember may convert points in their Programme Account to programmes of participating airlines and hotels, in the points increments indicated in the Programme communications.
Cardmembers are subject to and must comply with the terms and conditions of the frequent flyer programmes or the participating airlines and the frequent guest programmes of the participating hotel groups in which they are enrolled and the terms and conditions of the room night vouchers and retail vouchers issued.
American Express assumes no responsibility for points converted from a Cardmember's Programme Account into a participating airline's frequent flyer programme or any participating hotel group's frequent guest programme or for the actions of any participating airline or participating hotel group in connection with its frequent flyer or frequent guest programme or otherwise.
American Express assumes no responsibility for the provision of goods and services by Participating Hotel Groups or Participating Retail Establishments in relation to a Cardmember's use of room nights, restaurant discounts, shopping vouchers or otherwise.
Any airline or hotel group's participation or any other reward availability in the programme is subject to change with or without notice.
The Cardmember insurance programmes listed below will not apply to flights taken with frequent flyer tickets even if such tickets were obtained by using points converted from a Programme Account. Insurance coverage will only be activated pursuant to the terms and conditions of such coverage.

All Rewards are subject to availability and certain restrictions apply. Terms and conditions of each Reward are set forth in the Programme communications. Certain Rewards are available only during the time periods described in the Programme communications. Merchants participating in the Programme are subject to change.
Redeemed Rewards are not refundable, exchangeable, replaceable, redeemable, or transferable for cash, credit other Rewards, or points under any circumstances.
By redeeming Rewards, the Cardmember releases American Express and its parent subsidiaries, and affiliates from any and all liability regarding the redemption or use of Rewards, or other participation in the Programme.
Rewards must be redeemed in accordance with Programme communications. American Express and participating merchants are not responsible for replacing lost, stolen, or mutilated certificates or tickets.
American Express reserves the right to modify or cancel any Reward at any time without prior notice to the Cardmember.
Any additional travel or accommodation arrangements made in connection with any Reward will be the sole responsibility of the Cardmember.
American Express reserves the right to terminate the Programme at any time. American Express also reserves the right to change the Programme Terms and Conditions at any time including but not limited to conversion rates for Membership Rewards® points into participating airline's frequent flyer or participating hotel groups' frequent guest programmes or points required for issuance of a room night voucher or a retail voucher or any other reward.
The request for redemption or conversion of points from the Programme Account to a participating airline's frequent flyer programme or participating hotel group's frequent guest programme must be made by the Basic Cardmember. Basic Cardmembers must initiate a request for redemption or conversion of points by calling American Express on Tel: (+973) 17 557722, Fax: (+973) 17 557822, or by writing to American Express, Membership Rewards, P.O. Box 5990, Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain.
Fraud or abuse relating to the accrual of points in the Programme or conversion of points may result in forfeiture of accrued points as well as cancellation of a Cardmember's Programme Account and any American Express Card Account.
American Express's failure to enforce a particular Term or Condition does not constitute a waiver of that Term or Condition by American Express.
All questions or disputes regarding eligibility for the Programme or the eligibility of points for accrual or conversion of points will be resolved by American Express at its sole discretion.
American Express assumes no responsibility for any loss of whatever nature resulting from the redemption of Points in the Membership Rewards® programme.
Expiry of Points
There is no expiry date for Points earned by a Cardmember while participating in the Programme as long as they are a Basic Cardmember of American Express and all of the Cardmember's Linked Accounts with American Express are kept in good standing. However, American Express reserves the right to institute an expiry date for Points whether Points have already been earned or earned thereafter.
If any of the Linked Accounts are not in good standing, the Points earned in the Programme Account may be forfeited. The Programme Account may also be cancelled or Points earned may be forfeited due to the Cardmember's failure to adhere to the Terms and Conditions governing the Card Account.
If a Cardmember who has more than one American Express Basic Card Account voluntarily cancels any such Card Account, which is in good standing, the Cardmember shall be entitled to transfer unused Points in the Membership Rewards® Programme Account linked to the cancelled Card to another American Express Basic Card Account. On a case by case basis, American Express may not permit transfer of unused Membership Rewards® Points to another Basic Card Account in the Cardmember's name, subject always to such conditions as American Express may impose in its sole discretion, including (without limitation) adjustment to the number of points to reflect differences between the programmes concerned.
Subject to these Terms and Conditions, if a Cardmember voluntarily cancels his/her Card or chooses to discontinue his/her enrolment in Membership Rewards® Programme, the unused Points in the Programme Account may be redeemed up to 60 days after the date of cancellation. If the Cardmember subsequently reinstates his/her Basic Card Account or chooses for re-enrolment in the Membership Rewards® Programme within 6 months, the unused Membership Reward Points will be reinstated into the Programme Account. Unused Membership Rewards® Points will be forfeited after 6 months from the date of voluntary cancellation of Card and/or date of discontinuation of enrolment in the Membership Rewards® Programme.
Subject to these Terms and Conditions, if a Cardmember's Card is involuntarily cancelled, the unused Membership Rewards® Points in the Programme Account will stand forfeited and the Cardmember will lose all its rights to claim the same under any circumstances.
Membership Rewards® certificates and vouchers (collectively 'Certificates') may not be combined with any other promotional offers from American Express or participating merchants.
- Certificates are valid at participating merchants only, until the expiration date printed on the front of the Certificate.
- Certificates must be surrendered at redemption, and no photocopies of Certificates will be honoured.
- Fulfilment of the Certificates is the sole responsibility of the participating merchant, not American Express.
- Certificates are not valid towards previous purchases, and cannot be used as payment on existing account balances with either the participating merchant or American Express.
- Certificates have no other cash value.
- Certificates are not transferable unless otherwise noted on the Certificate.
- Certificates are void where prohibited by law.
- Unless otherwise stated on the Certificate, Certificates for Rewards offered do not include any taxes, which are the sole responsibility of the Cardmember.
- Use of any Certificate is subject to any additional restrictions listed on the Certificate.
- If a Cardmember requests to void or reissue a certificate(s), his/her Membership Rewards® Account will be deducted with an amount of 1,000 points.
